FIRST DRIVE: Lucid Gravity – 1,000bhp Tesla Model X Rival
You'll know Lucid from its ultra-spacious, slippery Air saloon, which can hit 60 in 1.9 seconds and is very probably the best-handling electric family car on sale today. 10 out of 10, no notes. So, how does the new Gravity SUV – Lucid's difficult second album – stack up? Well, it's a little early for a full drive (stick around for a drive of the prototype later in the video) but here's what we do know. It'll use the next generation of Lucid tiny-but mighty bespoke motors. There’s a 900-volt architecture for fast charging speeds, and it'll be able to accelerate to 60mph in less than 3.5sec in the quicker versions. Base models will start from $74k, with 'around 800bhp.' Inside there’s screens galore, and four rows of seats (sort of). All very impressive. All very Tesla, you might think. But what sets Lucid apart? Join TG’s Ollie Kew for a deep-dive into the clever thinking behind the Lucid Gravity. 2024 McLaren 750s Spider | Interior and exterior | 8K Visual review
With the new 750S, McLaren defines a new benchmark for supercar performance and driver exhilaration. The lightest and most powerful series-production McLaren, the new V8-engined, rear-wheel drive 750S – which is available in coupe and convertible form – is unashamedly a supercar for the purist. Designed and engineered following meticulous analysis of the renowned McLaren 720S, the new 750S combines advances in weight-saving, powertrain performance, aerodynamics and dynamic excellence to elevate a benchmark driving experience to new heights. Around 30 per cent of 750S components are either new or changed in order to deliver these improvements and with them an even greater emotional connection to the car. With all available carbon fibre and lightweight options selected, the coupe weighs 1,277kg in dry lightest form, which delivers a segment-leading power-to-weight ratio of 587PS-per-tonne. This is a remarkable 193kg lighter than its closest competitor and delivers a power-to-weight advantage of 22PS. The 750S Spider is designed with the same focus on minimising weight. It features a Retractable Hard Top (RHT), rollover protection system and a bespoke rear upper structure to the monocoque constructed from carbon fibre, but such is the strength of the carbon fibre monocoque that no additional reinforcement is needed. This ensures the Spider is equally impressive in power-to-weight terms and segment-leading at 566PS-per-tonne, at its lightest dry weight of 1,326kg. The extraordinary levels of exhilaration, precision, agility, feel and feedback that the 750S delivers are immediately apparent to the driver, even at lower speeds – and its low weight is a key factor in its dynamic performance. At just 1,389kg (DIN), it weighs 30kg less than a 720S – a clear example of McLaren's dedication to lightweight engineering. This philosophy of performance-based innovation is evidenced by features such as carbon fibre-shelled racing seats that are a combined 17.5kg lighter than the base seats in a 720S. New 10-spoke ultra-lightweight forged wheels are the lightest ever fitted as standard on a series-production McLaren and save 13.8kg. The new driver instrument display is lighter by 1.8kg. Even the windscreen glass contributes to weight reduction, providing a 1.6kg saving. The 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine with power of 750PS and torque of 800Nm provides ferocious performance, with the 750S capable of 0-100km/h in 2.8 seconds and 0-200km/h in 7.2 seconds (Spider 7.3 seconds). This is quicker than its closest competitor on both measures. In-gear acceleration is amplified by optimised transmission gearing and a revised kickdown control strategy. McLaren's Proactive Chassis Control linked-hydraulic suspension, which is renowned for combining astonishingly precise body control with a remarkably compliant ride, is now even more impressive in new PCC III form. The new-generation system delivers even higher levels of suspension performance and is integral to the outstanding dynamic abilities of the 750S. ⚡️ Discover ALL new cars before anyone else! FIRST LOOK: 2024 Porsche Macan – Best-Selling Porsche Goes Electric
This is the new Porsche Macan, and it is now an electric car. Which is a punchy move by Porsche. When the Cayenne and Macan SUVs are your bread and butter models globally (with the Macan being Porsche’s best-selling model in the UK), going full EV early feels… bold. There will be two initial models – the Macan 4 and Macan Turbo – both of which will be on Porsche’s new 800-volt PPE (Premium Platform Electric – which is incidentally the first time Porsche has electrified an existing model), both with dual-motors and all-wheel drive, and both get the same 100kWh battery, of which 95kWh is useable. Range is slated at 380 miles for the less powerful Macan 4, 367 miles for the faster Turbo, so you’ll be looking at high 200s in the real-world. Which is all very nice. But it wouldn’t be a Porsche if it were slow or cumbersome, so Porsche hasn’t skimped. The Macan 4 puts out just over 400bhp at max and hits 62mph in 5.1 seconds with a 137mph top speed. The Turbo is capable of 635bhp with launch control, can hit 62mph from rest in just 3.3 seconds and run on to a 162mph max. Currently, a basic Porsche Macan with a 263bhp turbo petrol 4-cyl engine costs £53,400. The most expensive six-cylinder Macan GTS weighs in at £71,700. That’s good value. But, inevitably, the electric version will set you back more – it’s priced at £69,800 for the Macan 4 and £95,000 for the Macan Turbo. Aston Martin Vantage Roadster / Interior, Exterior / 8K
Aston Martin Vantage Roadster (8K UHD) Interior, Exterior, Details. Aston Martin has enhanced its sports car lineup with the debut of the Vantage Roadster, a new addition that joins the Vantage Coupe introduced in 2018. This convertible version elevates the allure of the Vantage, known for its perfect mix of strong performance, dynamic excellence, and practicality for daily use. The Vantage Roadster, a captivating two-seater with an open top, embodies the same rigorous approach to design and engineering as its Coupe counterpart, prioritizing exhilarating driving experiences. It features Aston Martin's 4.0-liter twin-turbo 510PS/685Nm V8 engine, combined with an 8-speed ZF automatic transmission. The Roadster can accelerate from 0-60 mph in just 3.7 seconds and reach a top speed of 190 mph with the roof up. It's only 60kg heavier than the Coupe, thanks to a lighter Z-fold roof mechanism and optimized exterior and chassis adjustments. The Vantage Roadster is designed to maintain the dynamic prowess and sporty essence of the Coupe, ensuring no loss in performance or refinement. It shares the same Adaptive Damping, Dynamic Stability Control, Dynamic Torque Vectoring, and Electronic Rear Differential as the Coupe but benefits from specific dynamic enhancements including a unique rear damper tune and software adjustments for the Adaptive Damping System and ESP. True to its sports car nature, the Roadster offers Sport, Sport +, and Track chassis modes, specifically calibrated for this model. These modes work in tandem with the powertrain modes from the Coupe, allowing for a progressive increase in responsiveness and excitement. The Roadster is versatile, performing admirably on both roads and race tracks. The Vantage Roadster not only matches the Coupe in tactile feedback, speed, and cornering but also boasts a distinct design. Its fabric hood features a compact powered Z-fold mechanism, which operates quickly (lowering in 6.7 seconds or raising in 6.8 seconds at up to 31 mph), making it the fastest in its class. The low stack height of the roof allows for a sleek rear profile without compromising luggage space, which is ample enough to fit a full-sized golf bag. With the launch of the Vantage Roadster, new options are available across the Vantage range, including the iconic 'vane' grille as an alternative to the 'hunter' grille. New alloy wheel designs and finishes are also offered. Additionally, a manual 7-speed transmission, previously exclusive to the Vantage AMR, is now an option for the Coupe. Matt Becker, Aston Martin's Chief Engineer, highlights that while convertibles are often viewed as inferior to their Coupe versions, the Vantage Roadster stands out with its precise, agile handling and powerful performance, enhanced by the experience of open-top driving. ⚡️ Discover ALL new cars before anyone else! New Toyota Land Cruiser ULTIMATE review!
Sell your car for free with Carwow: https://bit.ly/Sell-Your-Car-For-Free-0204 The time has come for Mat to get his hands on the all-new Toyota Land Cruiser! He’ll be testing out this all-new 4x4 both on & off-road to see if it has what it takes to compete with class leaders like the Suzuki Jimny & Mercedes G-Class! So let’s take a closer look… Starting with the design, the Land Cruiser looks seriously rugged on the outside. It rolls up with a boxy-style design, coupled with a huge rear bumper and massive windows along the side and back to help let loads of light in. As you’d expect with a proper 4x4 it also comes with roof bars as well as running boards along the side, while up from the grille design harks back to the classic Land Cruiser design. It looks great! Step inside and there’ll be no mistaking that you’re in a Land Cruiser. The dash design mirrors the chunky looks of the exterior, and there’s even padding on the centre console so you don’t damage your knees when off-roading! There’s a fair bit of scratchy plastics throughout the place, but that can be forgiven because there are SO many physical buttons! Almost everything is controlled with a button rather than through the infotainment screen - just like the old days! The infotainment system itself is ok, and there are also digital dials for the driver, too. There’s only one engine available for the Land Cruiser - it’s a 2.8-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel that can produce 204hp and 500Nm of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox. We don’t know the price of the Land Cruiser yet, but we expect it to cost in the region of £55,000 - £60,000. So is it worth it? Stick with Mat and see for yourself! New RS7 Performance v BMW M8 v AMG GT63: DRAG RACE
Sell your car for free with Carwow: https://bit.ly/Sell-Your-Car-For-Free-0604 It’s time for an almighty V8 showdown! We’ve got Mat in the all-new Audi RS7 Performance, and he’s lining up against a BMW M8 Competition & a Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-Door! So let’s see how these ferocious machines compare. Starting with the Audi, it’s packing a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 under the bonnet that can produce 630hp and 850Nm of torque. Power is set to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it weighs in at 2,067kg. If you want to pick one up, it’ll set you back around £133,000. Then we have the BMW M8. Under the bonnet, you’ll find a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8, and this can put down 625hp and 750Nm of torque. It comes with four-wheel drive and an 8-speed automatic gearbox, and it tips the scales at 2,074kg. It’s slightly more expensive than the RS7, with a price tag of £138,000. Finally, we have the AMG. It’s powered by a 4-litre twin-turbo V8 that produces 639hp and 900Nm of torque. It sends power to all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic gearbox, and it tips the scales at 2,045kg. It’s the most expensive car here, costing around £154,000. So the AMG has the most power and the least weight! Surely it’ll be a walkover, right? There’s only one way to find out… LET’S RACE!
